In a post on the game’s website Blizzard Entertainment confirmed earlier rumors and announced that Overwatch will be released May 24. It will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

The studio also announced that it will run an Open Beta for the game May 5-9. Those that pre-ordered the game will be able to try the Beta a little earlier on May 3.

The Open Beta is confirmed to include the following:

  • 21 playable characters;
  • 12 maps and 4 game modes;
  • Level-based Progression system for unlocking skins and other cosmetics.

It’s worth noting, that your progression in the Beta won’t carry over to the main game when it launches.

Beta tests for Overwatch started since last year, constantly introducing some new modes or features to help give gamers a thorough idea of what the game is like and how it'll play on launch day. Blizzard also plans on making further improvements to the game based on the reports filled by users.

You can pre-order Overwatch for PC through Battle.net or a retail store. To pick up the game on consoles you have to go through either the Playstation or Xbox store.
